Rongoā Mauri Wānanga ~ Bushy Park Tarapuruhi

Time & Location

13 Sept 2024, 5:00 pm – 15 Sept 2024, 2:00 pm

Bushy Park Tarapuruhi, 791 Rangitatau East Road, Kai Iwi 4578, New Zealand

Join me on a Rongoā Mauri Wānanga where we will immerse ourselves in the mauri of the ngahere (forest) for deep healing. Surrounded by the Bushy Park Tarapuruhi ngahere near Whanganui it is a perfect sanctuary to hold sacred space.

This will be a powerful and intensive wānanga designed to enrich your spiritual life in partnership with the native plants of Aotearoa. You do not need to be experienced with rongoā to do this wānanga however, having a love of plants will be an advantage. This is a wānanga to develop and strengthen your matakitetanga and to go deeper into your ngahere.

Plants in their wholeness are a bridge to higher dimensions. They hold light codes that can shift your cells and attune your body to a higher path of consciousness.

Learning how to listen to your body for answers is an essential tool. Your body is a multi-faceted antenna and it helps us to tune in to certain frequencies to receive and give information. We will align with the mauri of Papatūānuku to restore our connection to the tinana (body). Rongoā will provide the spiritual nutrients.

When our body is out of tune, plants can re-tune it.  Plants combined make music and harmonise with each other therefore shifting and aligning the receiver to the angelic harmonies of rongoā.

Rākau are a reflection of who you are and where you are. Which rākau is calling you?

Leading up to the wānanga I will be sharing kōrero on my social media platforms to clear the tinana (vessel) and sweep the chambers of the manawa in preparation for a deeper retreat. Feel free to follow me on  Facebook and TikTok

Don't miss out on this wānanga. Numbers are restrcited to 10 participants to ensure an intimate setting for deeper learning.

No Ngāti Raukawa me Ngāti Whakaue

Joanne is the founder of Rongoā Mauri. She is a Rongoā Māori healer and has been healing for nearly 20 years. She works with traditional plant medicine and draws upon the ancient traditions and life-force of the ngahere to facilitate healing.

She is an educator, writer, photographer and healer.

Joanne has been delivering Rongoā Wānanga and Retreats for over 10 years.  Having always felt connected to the spiritual foundation of life, Joanne shares this work with people like you on the journey of understanding how the conscious wisdom of Nature can help you fully embody your soul’s purpose.

"Entering the ngahere is like entering your soul.  The mind can be like the mauri of a ngahere. We just need to learn the tools and resources to be in that space and the ngahere is the best teacher to show us how."

Wānanga amidst the sacred and experience the mystical healing energies of the ngahere and its powerful healing medicine traditions at this ancient sanctuary.

Bushy Park Tarapuruhi is a lowland rainforest surrounded by a predator-proof fence.

It is home to a range of native species, including hihi, kōkako, kererū, robin, and tīeke (saddleback).

Walking tracks

The reserve has 10 tracks through the forest area that vary in length from 5 minutes to 2 hours. Nearly all are flat and well formed and are well signposted near the homestead.

The Bushy Park homestead (built 1906) is the main building on the property.

With a wide variety of birdlife thriving in the sanctuary, visitors will be able to see or hear species such as bellbirds, kererū, north island robin, tīeke (saddlebacks), hihi, moreporks as well as the falcon, fantail, grey warbler, mallard, pukeko, silvereye, kingfishers, and white-faced heron.

Giraffe weevils, glow worms, and huhu beetles also inhabit Bushy Park.

A special feature of the reserve is a large northern rata Metrosideros robusta named Ratanui. It is estimated to be between 500 and 1000 years old and is 43 metres in height and has a girth that exceeds 11 metres.
