We practice kaitikaitanga. We work collaboratively with Greater Wellington Regional Council by harvesting the tracks and pathways at Chrystalls Bend for manuhiri. We monitor and observe the ngahere and the waterways and look at ways of enhancing the mauri. One way to enhance the mauri is to entice manu to the ngahere by planting rākau that specific manu like for shelter and for kai. Another way is to keep the pathways clear and tidy for manuhiri.
Some of the activities we do are:
- harvesting
- weeding
- transplanting
- planting
On rainy days, activities will be indoors and will include:
- drying rongoā
- processing rongoā
- kōrerorero rongoā
- artwork
We would love for you to join us. This is one of the best ways to learn about rongoā by getting your hands into the whenua xx
If you are new to this area please let me know. We can meet you at New World carpark and guide you to Te Waka Rākau Oranga Maara.
