​​​Joanne Hakaraia-Olson is a healer, teacher, and writer whose life’s work is devoted to the sacred healing traditions of Rongoā Māori. Born and raised in Ōtaki, she descends from Ngāti Raukawa and Ngāti Whakaue, with ancestral ties to the Tainui and Te Arawa waka.​ Joanne has practised for nearly 20 years, weaving together karakia, mirimiri and romiromi, rongoā rākau (plant medicine), rau miri (use of leaves), whitiwhiti kōrero (conversational healing), and mahi ā wairua (spiritual alignment). Her approach honours the mauri of each person, meeting them gently where they are and guiding them toward deeper connection with body, mind, and spirit.​ As co-founder and kaitohu of Rongoā Mauri, Joanne has supported hundreds of participants through workshops, retreats, and forest trails across Aotearoa. Her offerings invite people to strengthen their matakite (intuitive sight), sense the subtle movements of mauri, and realign with the rhythms of Papatūānuku.
