About Rongoā Mauri Trails

Reconnect, Restore, and Revitalise

This exclusive rongoā immersion is designed for small, intimate groups (4–6 participants only), making it ideal for NGO's, group of friends, organisations, and wellness gatherings looking for a personalised experience.

Rongoā Mauri Trails is an intimate wānanga held within Te Wao Nui a Tiriwa (Waitākere Ranges), a sacred and storied landscape under the mana of Te Kawerau ā Maki. Nestled among the ancient ngahere and overlooking the revered waters of Te Manukanuka o Hoturoa, we gather on these ancestral lands to honour the wisdom of rongoā.

This rongoā immersion is designed for kaimahi seeking to weave rongoā rākau into their healing practice, supporting the hauora of their people, clients, and communities.

Joanne will take you in to the ngahere to acknowledge and give reverence to the rākau rangatira and show you how each rakau is a reflection of who we are. She will show you how to see the mauri of rakau for deep healing. She will also share the rongoā practices she uses in her whare hauora, guiding you on a journey of connection and healing.

Your Kaiwhakahaere

Joanne Hakaraia-Olson

Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngai te Rangi

Joanne Hakaraia-Olson, co-owner of Rongoā Mauri Limited with her husband Nick Olson, is a dedicated Rongoā Māori practitioner based at The Rongoā Mauri Studio in West Auckland. Together with their colleagues, Katrina Campbell and Susan Rose, they provide Rongoā Māori services to support healing and well-being for their community.

Joanne has devoted nearly two decades to the sacred practice of Rongoā Māori, walking a path rooted in wairua (spirit), connection to Papatūānuku (Earth Mother), and the wisdom of her ancestors.

Over the years, Rongoā Māori has become more than a practice; it is her way of life, woven through her mahi (work), relationships, and spiritual growth.

Joanne believes that when you walk deeper into the ngahere—you remember who you truly are.
